ERC Designates UCPB as Payment Outlet for Regulatory Fees
The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), the government agency tasked to oversee the local power sector, has signed up for UCPB's over-the-counter collection facility (OTCCF).
OTCCF is an online service available to UCPB client-institutions. A client-institution with an OTCCF can receive payments from its customers through any of the bank's branches. The payments are credited immediately to the client-institution's account.
ERC and UCPB officials held the formal signing of the OTCCF agreement at the ERC office in Pacific Center along San Miguel Ave., Pasig City.
With the signing of the OTCCF agreement, local distribution utilities (DU) can now pay their supervision fees, regulation fees, metering fees, fines and penalties in any of UCPB's 178 branches nationwide.
There are 140 DUs in the country consisting of 20 private corporations like the Manila Electric Co. (MERALCO) and 120 power cooperatives.
ERC chairman Rodolfo Albano and UCPB first vice president Edmond Bernardo (3rd and 4th from left) signed the agreement in the presence of (from left) ERC commissioner Jose Reyes, ERC commissioner Ma. Theresa Cantada, ERC commissioner Alejandro Barin, (and standing from left) ERC legal officer Atty. Noel Salvanera, ERC executive director Francis Saturnino Juan, UCPB assistant vice president Fiel Amor Pacleb and UCPB sales officer Reynaldo Ladaban, Jr.

Sportsfest Caps UCPB 45th Anniversary Celebration
|
UCPB capped last month its 45th anniversary celebration with a huge, one-day sports tournament at the Marikina Sports Park in Marikina City – and what a fitting finale it was. More than 1,300 UCPB associates from the bank's Makati head office and
Metro Manila branches took part in the 18-event competition. Their cheers and banters, punctuated by shouts of victory and groans of defeat reverberated throughout the venue all day long. It was truly a fitting finale for a milestone year since it brought to fore values that UCPB holds dear – teamwork, fair play, and the commitment to excel.

UCPB Associates Raise Funds, Relief Goods for Calamity-Stricken Colleagues
UCPB employees all over the country came to the aid of their colleagues in Kalibo and Iloilo who were badly affected by Typhoon Frank with donations of cash and relief goods.
Kalibo and Iloilo bore the brunt of Typhoon Frank's fury with the storm's howling winds smashing homes, uprooting trees and knocking down power lines there, and its torrential rains triggering terrifying flashfloods that inundated several residential and business districts in the two areas in neck-deep waters.
Despite the difficult times, the UCPB associates responded enthusiastically to the call for donations, raising in less than a month's time nearly P300,000 in cash and 45 boxes of clothes, blankets and food items. The donations augmented the emergency financial assistance extended by the bank to its Kalibo and Iloilo associates.
The quick and overwhelming show of support for colleagues in need demonstrated once again the UCPB associates' high sense of civic duty and compassion.
Last year, the UCPB associates also mounted a fund drive for their colleagues in the Bicol Region and Southern Luzon who were victims of Typhoons Reming and Milenyo.
In years past, they even joined the actual relief operations, the major ones being those for victims of the massive earthquake in Central Luzon in 1992, for those displaced by lahar flows in Pampanga and Zambales in 1995, and for the refugees of civil strife in Cotabato in 1996.

Dear UCPB clients:
Please be warned that "phishing" appears to be on the upsurge once again.
If you receive an email message purportedly coming a bank in Nigeria that a huge sum of money has been transferred to a UCPB account in your name, and that you can only access the account by paying US$300 to that Nigerian bank, delete the message immediately.
This is a "phishing" attempt. "Phishing" is an online scam in which an authentic-looking message is sent via e-mail purportedly coming from banks, credit card firms and other reputable companies.
The message entices the recipients, usually with a promise of a huge monetary reward, to log on to a bogus internet site, and once there to disclose sensitive personal data such as bank account information, credit card number, password, birth date, Social Security number and the like.
If you provide the information requested this will put you at risk of identity theft. The information may be used to defraud you.
Even just logging on to the bogus Internet site could put you at risk. The site might have codes that could capture your password and logon ID. So under no circumstance should you even go to the site.
To preclude your falling victim to these online con artists, we recommend that you observe this simple STOP, LOOK, CALL advice given by the U.S. Department of Justice, which we are again reprinting below for your benefit.
