In compliance to BSP Circular Nos. 808 and 859 which mandates all Philippine banks to shift from magnetic stripe technology to the EMV (Europay, MasterCard, Visa) chip-enabled ATM cards by January 1, 2017, UCPB will replace your existing UCPB ATM Card with the UCPB Visa Debit/EMV Card, free of charge. Frequently Asked Questions on BSP Circular 681

What is BSP Circular 681? The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Circular 681 or the “Revised Check Clearing and Settlement Processes” mandates all banks to return checks that are not sufficiently funded on the date the checks are presented: either Drawn Against Uncleared Deposits (DAUD ) or Drawn Against Insufficient Funds (DAIF) at an earlier time (by 7:30AM of the following day).    How will this new policy affect checking account holders? Dear UCPB Client: The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has issued BSP Circular 681, which mandates banks to return checks that are not sufficiently funded no later than 7:30 a.m. of the next clearing day. Owing to the shortened period, we will no longer be able to advise clients, who forgot to fund the checks they issued, which is what we are currently doing as a value-added service.
