UCPB welcomes new Directors to the Board

UCPB recently announced the appointment of Atty. Ruben V. Lopez and Mr. Andres Y. Narvasa, Jr. to the Board of Directors.

Atty. Lopez has more than 40 years of experience in the legal profession. This includes his previous work as Manager/Partner of Benedictine Law Center (formerly Lopez Law Offices) for 34 years, Legal Consultant for the Organic Producers and Traders Association, External Counsel for Citibank N.A., and Senior Legal Counsel of Security Bank and Trust Company. He is a graduate of San Beda College of Law and completed his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science degree at the Manuel Luis Quezon University.

Mr. Narvasa’s areas of expertise cover banking, finance and sports. His appointment is a homecoming of sorts, having served UCPB, Cocolife Insurance Corporation, UCPB General Insurance Corporation, Cocoplans, Inc., CIIF Management Company and CIIF Foundation as Director from 1998 to 2002. Following the end of his term as Commissioner of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) in 2017, he set up AYN Resource Management Group, a consultancy firm, which he currently manages as its President and CEO. He held several leadership and executive positions for a number of finance institutions here and abroad including Citystate Savings Bank, UBP Capital, Westpac Banking Corporation, Bank Leu, Ltd., Commerzbank, The National Bank of Kuwait, Lloyds Bank International (OBU), Security Pacific National Bank, and Marshalls, Villalon and Roche Money Brokers, Inc. Mr. Narvasa completed his AB Economics degree at Ateneo de Manila University on full athletic scholarship and earned MBA units from the Ateneo Graduate School of Business.

Atty. Lopez and Mr. Narvasa were elected to the Board on August 30, 2018 to replace Directors Datu Mau K. Andong, Jr. and Atty. David P. Corpin, respectively.
