UCPB facilitated the opening of Start2Save (S2S) Junior Savings Accounts of students from Kapt. H. Francisco Elementary School in Pateros on August 9, 2017. This was done in partnership with Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) for their Financial Literacy Program.
The students excitedly received their S2S Passbook, ATM card with the EMV chip, the global standard in card security, and a welcome kit containing notepad, stickers, and a birthday coupon.
Aside from opening their accounts, the students also participated in SCB’s Financial Education sessions where they learned the basics of budgeting, saving and spending to improve their ability to manage their allowance even at a young age.The children also joined the Save-Spend-Share activity where they identified pictures of objects as wants or needs. The winning participants received Php100 which they used to open an S2S account. After the event, the kids were given piggy banks with coins to remind them of the value of saving. UCPB will continue to partner with SCB to facilitate the account opening of S2S accounts of more kids and teens.
As part of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ Banking on Your Future (BOYF) campaign, UCPB has been organizing school visits to introduce S2S and promote financial awareness among Filipino children across the country.
